Thai Beef Salad

Serving

Makes enough for 4 good portions

Ingredients

  • 850g sirloin (or rump or fillet) steak
  • 200g salad greens
  • 2 small red onions
  • 10 kaffir lime leaves
  • 3 large mild chillies
  • 50g coriander
  • 50g mint
  • 50g basil
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce (though I usually leave this out)
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Method

  1. Cut beef into bite sized strips
  2. Char grill / barbeque / pan-fry beef in a little oil until cooked to preference
  3. Set aside for 5 minutes
  4. Finely slice the onions
  5. Shred the kaffir lime leaves
  6. Dice chillies. Remove seeds if you want to tone down the heat. Mistake. Just sayin'
  7. Place salad greens, onion, kaffir lime leaves, chillies, coriander, mint and basil into a salad bowl and toss lightly
  8. Combine the soy sauce, lime juice and sugar (and fish sauce if you like) to make a dressing
  9. Place the beef on the salad
  10. Pour over the dressing
  11. Serve immediately
